About the Workshop:

Offering purposeful ways for our donors to engage in ministry and become fully vested in Franciscan ideals. This is the foundation of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration’s (FSPA) mission advancement. Through strategic collaboration with the organization’s department of communications, FSPA donors are hearing and answering the call to give and development efforts are consistently meeting or exceeding the needs of essential ministries.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • The success story of FSPA fundraising through mindful communicating.
  • The 10-year evolution of the vehicles that drive messages.
  • The constant collaboration that keeps end-of-year goals in motion.
  • The organization-wide branding campaign that clearly and consistently speaks to FSPA donors and those they serve.

Madalene Buelow

Madalene Buelow is Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration director of mission advancement in La Crosse, Wisconsin, serving the congregation as such since 2006. To further FSPA mission advancement, Madalene has established the monthly giving program “Franciscan Friends” as well as the planned giving program “Circle of Perpetual Friends.” Together with FSPA’s department of communications, she has led four very successful #GivingTuesday campaigns. Her work has also included collaborating with the FranciscanSisters of Perpetual Adoration and Affiliate Homelessness Committee for the fundraising event ParTee for a Cause, which raised more than $48,000 in 2018.

Outside of her professional life, Madalene is an FSPA affiliate and prayer partner, and also serves the greater La Crosse community by sharing her fundraising experience with other non-profit organizations as a board member or development committee member. With a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa, Madalene’s professional experience also includes serving Mayo Clinic Health System –Franciscan Healthcare Foundation.


Jennifer Pick

A professional journalist and communicator for several nonprofit organizations since 1994, Jennifer Pick currently serves the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration’s department of communications. Through writing and editing, Jen crafts FSPA’s ministerial stories for print and web publications, manages the blogs Show me a sign and Messy Jesus Business and shares the goodness of the congregation through social media. For the past two years, Jen has led communication team collaboration with FSPA Office of Mission Advancement’s end-of-year efforts, including the #GivingTuesday campaign.

With a bachelor’s degree in communications from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, Minnesota, Jen has also served as Minnesota Deer Hunters Association’s publication manager and Oregon Dental Association’s director of communications, asa technical writer for Amsoil, Inc., and as a newspaper and freelance journalist.
